Holidays & Celebrations

Birthdays

I decorate for the house with a banner, balloons, and streamers. We play a Birthday game, read a birthday book, and have birthday treats. Parents typically bring a treat to share. Anything we can stick a candle in works best so we can sing and have them make a wish! We also play a birthday game: twister, limbo, balloon popping, new board game, etc

We've had a variety of treats!
Cupcakes
Ice Cream Cones
Chocolate Cake
Muffins
Doughnuts
Pudding Cups
Ice Cream Cups
Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches

Valentines Day

SO many decorations around the house!

The children make  and decorate Valentine boxes on Valentines Day. They also make Valentine hats.

Each child hands out their  Valentines

We read Valentine Books for story time and eat cookie treats

Mother's Day

The children make gifts for their mom or grandma each year.

This year the children painted rocks and sticks. Then, glued them to a pallet board to form flowers.

Last year, the children painted flower pots and planted flowers in the pots.

The year before, the children painted egg cartons and then cut them into pieces to form flowers. They glued the pieces onto a painted canvas.

Father's Day

The children make gifts for their dad or grandpa each year.

This year the children painted rocks and sticks. Then, they glues eyes on the rocks to make them look like fish.

Lastly, we tied string to them to form fishing rods. They put painted hand prints on a small bucket for their "fishing bucket."

Last year, the children painted hand prints on yard gloves and then filled out a survey about their dad.

The year before, the children collected sticks and glued them on a picture frame mat. Then, they drew a picture of them with their dad.

Fourth of July

The children painted the flags and then used star stickers to fill in the blue box.

We met a Maple Grove police officer too! She stopped by the house and let the children sit in her car and ask all kinds of questions.

Halloween

We read several books about Halloween, dressing up and trick-or-treating.

On Halloween everyone is invited to dress up for the day.

Of course we hang decorations & make yummy treats

carve pumpkins and paint a pumpkin into a fun character. This last year was Marshall from Paw Patrol.

We also practice Trick or Treating here before heading home to collect candy.

Thanksgiving

We read several books about Thanksgiving and things we are thankful for.

We make several turkey projects. We make a final "I am thankful for..." project right before Thanksgiving.

Christmas

Books.
We read several Winter and Christmas Books during the month of December. One book we read daily is Frosty the Snowman, to practice learning the words to sing for our concert.

The Christmas Concert
The children learn two winter songs and perform them for the parents. After the concert, each child gives their parents a hand made gift. The pallet boards were last years gift. Then each child receives a gift from me.

WInter Projects
We make several projects for the children to tak home and decorate their houses! There is a lot of cutting, gluing, and creating!
